They are simply a MUST in summer! Popsicle or Ice lolly or Ice pop, call it what you want but the fact that it is a frozen treat which the kids can consume slowly, makes it perfect the summer snack. So let's turn it into a healthy treat and lets hope they wont ask for an ice cream when we are out for a walk. You can use almost any smoothie ingredient you're accustomed to, but below are a few ideas. Just blend all the ingredients together until smooth and pour into your moulds:
Strawberry-banana
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 handful of spinach
- Unsweetened almond milk (as much as you need to make it smooth)
- 2 large or 3 small bananas
- 3 tbsp smooth peanut butter
- 1 tsp chopped mixed nuts (optional to sprinkle on top)
Watermelon
- 1 cup watermelon cubes (remove pips)
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yoghurt
- Maple syrup (optional)
Lemon curd
- 375ml Lemon curd
- 375ml yoghurt
- Just mix the 2 ingredients together.
- 1/2 cup avocado flesh
- 1/2 cup whole milk Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2–3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon smooth unsweetened almond butter, optional
Fruit juice
- Fruit Juice of your choice eg Orange Juice, Pineapple Juice, Apple Juice, Apple & Raspberry Juice, Mango Juice
- 1.5 cups fresh blueberries (about 1 pint, minus whatever is filched by your toddler)
- ¾ cup chopped beets (about 3 very small)
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup full fat plain yogurt
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 2 Tbsp almond butter (preferably salted)
Plain banana
- 1/2 cup almond milk or other milk
- 2 large bananas
Peaches
- 4 peaches
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 cup vanilla Greek yoghurt
- 3 cups purple grapes
- 1/2 cup raw cauliflower florets
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
